The Golden State Warriors were first known as the Philadelphia Warriors when they were formed in 1946. They won the inaugural championship of the BAA, which later became the NBA. When they moved to San Francisco in 1962, they changed their name to the San Francisco Warriors. This nickname was later changed to the Golden State Warriors in 1971. They have won 2 championships, 6 conference titles and 7 division titles.
The Warriors call Oakland, California home. It is one of the largest cities in the state and has a rich historical past. Oakland’s top landmarks include the Paramount Theater, the Fox Theater, the Oakland Estuary, Oakland Zoo, Children’s Fairyland, Chinatown, Lake Merritt and the Jack London Square. It is also home to the Chabot Space and Science Center, the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum and the Oracle Arena.
