The Dallas Mavericks was formed in 1980, several years after the Dallas Chaparrals relocated to San Antonio and became the Spurs. Their name was taken after the eponymous TV show which starred James Garner, who was also one of the members of the team’s ownership group. Upon inception, the Mavs immediately showed their might, beating the Spurs in their first game. The Mavs have since won 3 division titles and the 2006 conference championship. They hold the number 7 spot as the NBA’s most valuable franchise.
The Mavericks play their home games at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Dallas is known for its historical and cultural significance, making it a popular destination for tourists. Some of its most important landmarks include the Dallas City Hall, the Bank of America Tower, Reunion Tower, Old Red Courthouse, Guadalupe Sanctuary, Old City Park, Wilson Building and the John F. Kennedy Memorial.
