The Boston Celtics holds the record for the most number of NBA Championships (17 as of last count). Formed in 1946, the team was named by its founder, Walter Brown. The Celtics were -- and still are -- a dominant NBA team, winning 11 championships within a span of 13 years. Eight of these championships were won consecutively starting in 1959. It is to date the longest winning streak of a pro sports team in North America. The Celtics also boast of 21 conference titles and 28 division titles. Four Celtics players have been honored as MVPs for a total of ten, a record in the NBA.
The Celtics’ home turf is Boston, Massachusetts, a city that has a rich historical past, as evidenced by its numerous landmarks. Most of these landmarks are associated with the history of the U.S., while the rest of the city’s important sites have defined the city’s culture. Some of the must-see landmarks in the city include: Fenway Park, Boston Light on Little Brewster Island, the Boston Public Garden, the USS Constitution, the John Hancock weather beacon, Paul Revere’s house and old North Church to name a few.
