The White Sox is one of the two MLB teams in Chicago. Initially, they were known as the Sioux city Cornhuskers in the minor Western League and later as the St. Paul Saints. As the Chicago White Stockings, though, the team was established in 1901. The name White Stockings had been dropped by the other Chicago team, the Cubs. The name was later changed to the shorter and print-friendly Chicago White Sox. They have won 3 World Series championships and 7 American League pennants.
The White Sox' home turf, Chicago, is the largest city in the midwest. A metropolitan area, Chicago boasts of some of the most beloved landmarks in the U.S., including the Chicago Water Tower in the Magnificent Mile, the Navy Pier, Lake Point Tower, Grant Park, the Chicago Cultural Center, Public Library, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Adler Planetarium and the Crown Fountain with its visual effects.
