The Texas Rangers was an expansion franchise that was founded in 1961 in Washington, D.C. They were initially known as the Washington Senators (not related to the eponymous team that later became the Minnesota Twins). When they moved to Arlington 11 years later, they were renamed the Rangers. The team used to play at the Griffith Stadium but later moved to the District of Columbia Stadium (now known as the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium). The Rangers have yet to make an appearance at the World Series, but fans love them nevertheless. They have won 3 division titles.
Arlington, Texas is home to the Rangers. It is also where the famous theme park Six Flags Over Texas stands. The park features Wet 'n Wild and Hurricane Harbor, attractions that are a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Among Arlington's charming landmarks, there is Arlington Mineral Well and Bird's Fort. Arlington is also home to several military structures, including Fort Worth Army Air Field, Duncanville Air Force Station and Carswell Air Force Base.
