The San Diego Padres was established in 1969, the year they became an expansion team with Major League Baseball. Their name is taken from the name of the team from the Pacific Coast League. The Padres played their home games at Qualcomm Stadium but they have since moved to PETCO Park in the Gaslamp District. They won the National League Pennant in 1984 and again in 1998.
