The Brewers was established in 1967. Back then, they were known as the Seattle Pilots and played for Seattle, Washington. After a change in ownership, they later relocated to Milwaukee and were renamed the Brewers as a nod to the city’s brewing industry. They were formerly of the American League but later became members of the national League Central Division. They won the American League Pennant and the American League East Division in 1982. They appeared once in the World Series, playing against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Brewers’ home turf is Milwaukee, a city with a brewing industry that came largely out of German immigration. Beer fans who want to sample a wide variety of beers need only come to Milwaukee and ask a local, who will gladly point you in the direction of one of the city’s numerous taverns. Today, brewing companies Miller and Leinenkugel remain as just two of the city’s famous landmarks. Other than beer, the Brewer’s hometown is also a favorite for sports like kitesurfing and windsurfing and is a popular venue for cultural festivals.
