The Angels is an expansion franchise that has its roots in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1961, the team kept their original name until 1965, when they changed it to California Angels. In 1997, the team came under the control of Walt Disney Company and changed their name to Anaheim Angels. In 2005, the team's name was changed again to the current Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Initially, the Angels played at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles. From 1962 to 1965, the team moved to the then newly constructed Dodger Stadium. For the 1966 season, the Angels moved to Anaheim Stadium (now known as the Angel Stadium of Anaheim). The team has since made 'the Big A' their home. Anaheim is one of the most popular cities in California. Although it is a bustling industrial center producing aircraft parts and electronic products, the city is also famous for its beaches and theme parks, particularly Disneyland Resort.
